Today I’m going to keep it a little shorter than usual because I have a lot to do but I wanted to share some thoughts and music with ya’ll.
At this moment in time I’m blasting Eusexua by Fka Twigs through the PA system while I take a break from cleaning the house to write a little.
I’m shuffling through my playlist “It’s almost SUMMERRRR” so who knows what the vibe is for the next song.
I got up to adjust the air and “100 Shots” By Young Dolph started playing. A very welcomed vibe shift. RIP Dolph.
How the f*ck do you miss a whole hundred shots?
Honestly, a really good question.
I really love this song, but I also really enjoy mixing it with other songs.
You can click here and watch a video of me mixing 100 Shots and Everybody Here Wants You by Jeff Buckley.
Let’s talk about a smaller artist for a moment who I believe deserves ALL the praise and applause for her music and creativity.
Her name is Kiki Rockwell and she is so incredibly talented, and beautiful.
I found her tiktok during covid lockdown and thought “who is this elf woman filming these sick videos?”
Turns out it was her filming her first music video and she had recruited her neighbor to play the creepy old man. (Sorry neighbor man, but you did absolutely nail that role)
It was for the song “Same Old Energy” and it’s a really good video but the song is amazing. Just like all her music, honestly.
Kiki Rockwell has been made a staple in my everyday music shuffle right alongside Fiona Apple, Erykah Badu, Mazzy Star, Tash Sultana, and so many other amazing women artists.
Let me put you onto some songs:
Rap to Jam… I’m really all over the place with this list but I’m going through my shuffle.
Burn Your Village By Kiki Rockwell
Same Old Energy By Kiki Rockwell
I Think I’m Gonna Kill Myself By Elton John
Lemme put you onto some playlists:
I named these playlists so the name of the playlist may or may not fit the vibe of the playlist. Proceed with caution.
Maybe fight, Maybe clean the house
I’m gonna log off for a little a join the analog world again for a bit.
I’ll talk to you soon.
