All links will be underlined below throughout the list. Let’s get right into it.
- New York Times Games – I love connections. They have an app. Highly recommend. Here is a link to the app!
- Set a musical timer for a task – Put on a song or a playlist and tell yourself you won’t stop..doing the dishes until that Jeff Buckley song stops playing, or your playlist ends. Staying active is so good for your mental health as well as your physical health.
- One minute of intentional nothingness – This isn’t meditating. You are detoxing for just a quick minute. Dim the lights, have a seat. Set a one minute timer. Silence your phone. Close your eyes and feel your body. Hear your thoughts. Sit there with your body and just relax for one minute. Deprive your senses to tell your brain that it doesn’t need constant stimulation.
- Keep a physical journal – Physically writing things down is fantastic for brain health, plus it’s so nice to be able to flip through times, experiences, and feelings you had.
- Learn a new skill – Learning a new skill is great for the aging brain. If you can’t handle or afford a new skill then might I suggest “learning” a new habit around your house or in your life. Everyday at six you do the same household task, or practice your new activity for one hour.
- Eat dinner with your non dominant hand – Yes, it sounds weird but I swear using your non dominant hand is actually good for brain health.
